Birthday Poems 21 is the theme on this page. Gentle truths for college grads. Not like it was "way back" we're sad to report. Or, maybe we've just forgotten?
Back in the day, the college grad
Could get a job before he had
The ink upon that sweet degree
A little dry, and knew that he
Could keep that job without the sense
That life would throw a monkey wrench.
A corporate downsizing spree
In order of seniority
Means "last one in, the first to go"
So put aside a lot of dough.
So, happy birthday, twenty-one
Try to relax, enjoy, have fun.
Older folks that you will meet
Will swear you're in the "cat bird" seat
Virile, strong, and smooth of skin
Oh my, to be that young again!
Physically, you're at your peak
Financially, your checkbook's weak
The goods on earth are allocated
Money, son, is age-related.
