Sometimes Bitter Sweet Is What You Get

Bitter Sweet

Herein be the bitter dregs --starting with the regrettable failure of invited guests to RSVP, and eventually adding more as other social gaffes and faux pas come to Molly's attention.

And since we are all of us plagued by email gaffes, this is a most ripe theme for general amusement. Who among us, at times, has not wished to avoid the bitter sweet taste of a regrettable email, and "Bring it Back!"

Woes of the Hosts

Though invited to your celebration,
Very few turned up for the occasion.
Oh, think of the waste!

Is your job a bitter pill? Commiserate with others for shared joy is doubled; shared sorrow, halved. Bitter Lemon?

There's no need to tell any adult
Invitations are not an insult
To friends you aspired
To fete. It misfired!
And lost labor is the result..

You clean, and you shop, and you cook,
Oh, the exercise to your checkbook!
And when that day is done,
Wonder who'll eat the ton
Of food from which just few partook?

Fit to be tied with vexations,
The hosts heard of few cancellations
But they goofed, failed to see
Need for RSVP
Did their guests need engraved invitations?

Bitter Pill?

We didn't demand celebration
Nor insist the host note the occasion
And about our default?
Why, it's their own fault!
We can’t bother with verification.
