Literati Limericks Makes History Fun!
Review four years of college in a capsule and have fun doing it with Literati Limericks. See what the critics and limerick lovers have to say.
It's kind of "egghead." Not for the great unwashed but a fun read for those who like to read a lot. It's a nifty, fast, college review, too. From checking our demographics, this could very well be you. Here's some information on purchasing your very own copy.
 It's Academic!
I didn't intend to write a limerick book initially, It all came about because my writing group, the Morning Morning Writing Group (MuMWuGs, for short) - which I began in 2003 - decided to tackle a group project, a book of limericks, because it seemed like great fun. A Pocket Book of Limericks became a reality. After that experience I found the joy of writing limerick poems was very definitely like eating one potato chip—I couldn't. And I didn't, and now there is this website and my own book.
Without resorting to the picaresque device of vulgarity, this book relies upon a gentle humor and the joy of recognition of some ancient myth, philosophy, fine arts theme, science topic, or historical fact by my readers. It is also a nifty way to anchor intellectual history themes because, of course, limericks, poems and jingles have attributes of rhyme and meter which make facts stick. If you have ever suffered through Beowulf, you will be as tickled to recognize the reference to Grendel as you might be to find a McDonald's hamburger in Paris. I hope you feel the delight of recognition of these academic topics from your college days when the venerable "bull session" stretched your mind in some wood-paneled pub or plush-chaired café.
Are you "eggy" enough to "get it"?
This is the nostalgia felt by those who are in love with ideas. There is humor in these pages, too, unapologetically accessible in parts only to the well-read, or to students becoming well-read.thirty-eight illustrations grace the pages of the book done by the talented students of the Original and Only Art Institute of Cincinnati
Cover art by Cindy Matyi, incredibly talented Celtic artist and musician.
