Philosophy Limericks
A wee segue into philosophy limericksIsaac the Autodidact, having heard that everyone "has a book inside him" continues to work on his project, a volume of educational limerick poems, today's being philosophy limericks. He has this strange idea that learning can be fun, and even stranger, that having a good crystallized knowledge database is a thing to be desired and not an embarrassment. From time to time he shares with us some samples, and though these are on philosophy, history, art, music, and even science are fair game for his generalist pen. He has been collecting limericks from everyone at the pub, and adding to those limericks of his own. It is said that the book is very nearly complete.
The HedonistI live my life at the extremes Burning my candle, it seems At both ends till it's through -Every vice overdo- Picking out ever faster slipstreams.
The EpicureanI prefer living my life adagio Doing nothing more strained than intaglio Or a book at compline With a glass of white wine And some artisan bread and fromaggio. The Stoic Like Marcus, I live like a monk Every day of my life a blue funk And don't ever doubt it There's no fun about it "Life is good" is a mere bunch of bunk.
Nor is Isaac too proud to collect mnemonics, mind maps and any other tool that has heuristic value. He has been heard to mutter "whatever works."
Philosophy limericks? History limericks? A whole entire book of educational limericks? How refreshing!
