The theme today is "writer's angst," poetry limerick style at Molly's Virtual Pub. Kathleen, the bar maid, does short funny rhyming poems and has now for years. Funny limericks are our stock-in-trade along with Harp or Guinness, and of course, fish and chips.
by Jeannette RamirezSturm und Drang's a condition where we
Feel awash in a threatening sea
And an angst existential
Frustrates your potential
And fills you with vague ennui.
Creatives are never content
They are restless and often hell-bent
To define and explore
Something unknown before
And their drive won't abate or relent.
The older you get, more you think,
That our lifespan is merely a blink.
Have you made legacy?
Are you all you can be?
So you sit down a spill some more ink.
Indecision is what you come to
When you've too many chores yet to do
How to focus on one
Of the jobs you've begun?
Someone tell me, I haven't a clue.
So having some trouble, are you?
Remembering that what you do
Is not who you are?
In your world you're a star
And it's quite enough just to get through.
Everybody brings sunshine, they say
And for some, it's when they choose to stay
But for others, we know
It's when they choose to go
So, which one are you, by the way?
