St. Patrick's Day History Here at Molly's Pub

St. Patrick's Day History Fun

On March 17th, it is stylish
Eating Mulligatawny (Green Isle dish)
And to quaff a green brew
With a a wry toast or two
For on this day, E  V  E  R  Y  O  N  E  '  S Irish

St. Patrick's Day 2

March 17th, Four ninety-three
St. Paddy died, so naturally
We have a parade,
As a memory aid,
To celebrate Ireland's "esprit."

St. Patrick's Day 3

Blarney Castle, it's said, has a stone.
And kissing it's scary. Alone,
You dangle o'er death
So take a deep breath
And make sure you've a strong chaperone.

St. Patrick's Day 4

St. Patrick's Day is pretty keen
For people who look good in green
You don't need to be Irish
You just need a strong wish
To honor the Islander scene

St. Patrick's Day 5

St. Patrick rid Ireland of snakes?
And if sainthood is that which it takes
To get rid of a reptile
I'm all for it, meanwhile,
Are such fables true, or just fakes?

St. Patrick's Day 6

In Chicago, they really deliver
A fine Irish Day from their quiver
Nothing's done in half-measures
For this fun city treasures
Dying things green--things large as a river.

St. Patrick's Day 7

The Irish saved civilization
And that fact alone is occasion
To honor the race
And give thanks for the grace
Of the monks' manuscript duplication.

St. Patrick's Day 8

Gaelic is making a comeback
From the brink, near extinct, so our brains wrack
In that tongue to announce it
But we can't pronounce it!
We're just happy it's got off its sidetrack.

St. Patrick's Day 9

Let's hope these good folks recommission
Celtic language and culture transmission
And once more make it stylish
To speak and read Irish
And take back their ethnic tradition.

St. Patrick's Day 10

"The luck of the Irish" is fable
Anyone reading history's able
To figure that out
With the British about
Life was brutish, poor, short, and unstable.
