Here Are Ways to Protect the Environment

Here are ways to protect the environment which we offer as the digestible limerick poem to support our best conservation intentions for green living.

Here at the pub, we personally know someone who is living "off the grid." My, she is a stoic one. What began for her as a bone to pick with the local gas and electric became a challenge, and then a way of life.

The environment here is a mess
And anyone doubting it's less
Than aware of the facts.
Our past effort suggests
We are losing in this game of chess.

Our planet is going to h---
But perhaps it is all just as well
For the more we encroach
On resources, the roach
Will succeed us and maybe excel.

Carbon footprint's the buzz word today
Watch your gas meter roll in dismay
Inexorably round
As you watch it spellbound
With your profligacy on display.

So when we walk through rooms in the night
If we give a d___, perhaps we might
Bear in mind that our use
Could amount to abuse
Take a second to turn off the light.

I go to the gym frequently
And the irony's not lost on me
If I walked to the gym
And then walked home again
My workout would always be free.

The human-environment interaction often stymies us as we deal with the Law of Unintended Consequences. Let us hope, with some diligence, that we get it right - for our kids' sakes.

Global warming isn't funny at all, but the limerick poem condenses the content of entire white papers on ways to protect the environment. Maybe you can use one of them if you have to give a speech or write something on global warming? Let's all renew our commitment to think globally and act locally because we have no where else to go.

BTW, World Environment Day is June 5th, and this coming year will be the most enthusiastic celebration yet of our mother, Planet Earth.

Ways to protect the environment belongs in bitter dregs, no?

Here's more tongue-in-cheek treatment of serious topics as limericks (financial).

And even more (legal)
